Bishop played for Essex between 1999 and 2005

Justin Bishop has been named as the new captain of Suffolk, succeeding Phil Caley who has stood down after 15 years at the helm.

The 27-year-old left-hander has been part of the Suffolk team since being released from Essex in 2005.

Bishop told BBC Radio Suffolk he is proud to take on the role.

He said: "Being born and bred in Suffolk it's something I've always wanted to do and I was utterly thrilled to get the call this week."
