Herefordshire suffered a 47-run defeat by Berkshire at Eastnor in their final MCCA Trophy group match. Batting first, Berkshire were indebted to their skipper Bjorn Mordt, whose 112 not out was his second successive one-day century against Herefordshire. Craig Crowe (75), Steve Naylor (49) and Richard Logan (23no) all contributed as Berkshire piled up 316-5. Despite half-centuries from Ben Stebbings and Richard Hall the home side could only make 269-9 in reply. Stebbings' innings of 64 was his maiden half-century for the county while Hall's 53 helped keep Herefordshire in touch with their target. Following Hall's departure the run-rate rose to an imposing 10 per over. With three defeats in four games, Herefordshire will be looking for an improvement in the longer form of the game. They open their Minor Counties Championship season with a home match against Shropshire, which is due to start at Eastnor on Sunday 7 June.
