Guernsey earn Division Six place

Cricket: Guernsey v Suriname
Guernsey skittled Suriname for just 52, the lowest total of the tournament

Guernsey earned promotion to the ICC World Cricket League Division Six with a 263-run win over Suriname at the KGV.

That secured the hosts second place in Division Seven behind unbeaten Bahrain.

All-rounder Jeremy Frith was once again Guernsey's main man, hitting 106 off 86 balls out of 315-3, the highest total of the week-long tournament.

Frith then span his way to 5-8 as, inside 22 overs, the South Americans were shot out for just 52 - the lowest total of the week.

Frith, who won his third man-of-the-match award of the week, ended the tournament as Guernsey's top batsman, hitting 364 runs in five matches, at an average of 121.33.

And he also took more than twice as many wickets as any other Guernsey bowler with 13, at an average of 12.69.

Apart from his top score and best bowling figures against Suriname, Frith's third-wicket stand of 182 with skipper Stuart Le Prevost Frith was the best partnership of the tournament.

After winning the toss, Guernsey opening pair Lee Savident and Matt Oliver had already set the tone by putting on 106 for the first wicket.

And skipper Le Prevost admitted: "We came in and did a pretty professional job but it was easier than we thought."

Guernsey's fourth win in their five group games left them second behind winners Bahrain, the only team to beat them.

And it will be Bahrain and Guernsey who go on to the WCL Division Six tournament to be held in Singapore at the end of August.
