Eddie Cleator inspired Ramsey to an impressive opening day victory in the Isle of Man Standard Bank Premiership on Saturday. Chasing Crosby's total of 146, Cleator smashed an unbeaten 70 to ease his side to victory. Ramsey skipper Rob Webber provided support with a lively 30 as the Northerners ended on 149-4 to win by six wickets. Meanwhile, Castletown narrowly edged past Cronkbourne by three wickets. The Southerners were given a fright in their pursuit of Cronkbourne's low score of 108 all out. Max Stokoe took three wickets as Castletown slumped to 57-7, but Mark Williams and Oliver Steriopulos put on an unbroken stand of 52 to win the match. Elsewhere, Jon Norrington hit the first century of the season as St John's romped to 304-4 against newcomers Loaghtyn Rams. Chris Hawke added 88 and Grant Atchison 36 for St Johns. The Rams responded with 114-7 to lose by 190 runs.
