Devon cricketer Heather Knight has been called up to the England women's team's winter academy. Knight, who has been playing the sport for nearly a decade, will link up with the squad in October. The 17-year-old, from Plymstock, told BBC Radio Devon: "When I was about nine or 10 I went along to a couple of sessions and really enjoyed it. "I started playing for Devon under-15s when I was about 12 and it just went on from there." Devon has a good history in girl's cricket, having won the county under-13s and under-15's national championship last month. "The participation has improved a lot and there's a lot of new girls taking up the game," Knight added. "There's definitely a lot more clubs around so the opportunities are getting better."
