Shrewsbury's lead at the top of the Birmingham League First Division has been cut to just two points after they crashed to defeat at Halesowen. Having bowled the home side out for 102, the league leaders were then dismissed for just 66. Shrewsbury stay top after their Shropshire neighbours Wellington managed to hold second-placed Old Hill to a draw. Shifnal's poor form continued as they lost by seven wickets to Wolverhampton. Dismissed for just 105, Shifnal remain rooted to the bottom of the Premier Division after Wolverhampton breezed past the victory traget for the loss of just three wickets. In the Second Division St. George's won the Shropshire derby with Newport. Batting first, Newport were skittled for 118 thanks to Steve Taylor (5-36) and Carl Ward (3-19). The Saints then cruised to 120-3, Lee Griffiths unbeaten on 53 and Matt Tilt making 43. In Division Three, Whitchurch defeated Studley whilst Bridgnorth drew with Olton.
Oswestry stay bottom of the pile, despite hanging on at 116-9 for a draw at Kington. In the Shropshire Premier League the top two won again, while Much Wenlock have pulled themselves clear of the relegation spot. Remans stay 30 points clear after a seven-wicket win over Newtown. The border side made 156 (Brian Jones 41), but the league leaders eased home with seven wickets to spare, skipper Mal Surplett top-scoring with 63 and Mark Davies making an unbeaten half-century. Albrighton are still second after beating Bomere Heath by six wickets, whilst Much Wenlock's improvement continued with a third successive victory that lifts them to fourth-bottom in the table. Meanwhile Ludlow were victorious over Quatt, Madeley defeated Wem and Broseley drew with Welshpool.
