Only two sides managed to get into three figures in their first innings in the Cornwall Premier League on Saturday in a day of low totals. Champions St Just were held to a draw at home to St Austell. Batting first St Just declared on 221-5 from 53 overs as Darren Cudby hit 82. In reply St Austell managed to hold on for a draw, scoring 168-8 off 57 overs as St Just's lead was cut to 47 points. Second-placed Truro thrashed struggling Newquay by seven wickets. Christian Phillips took 5-24 and Aaron Pennell had 4-33 as Truro skittled out Newquay for 92 in 37 overs. Rob Harrison's 37 was Newquay's only score of significance. In reply Tom Sharp hit a captain's innings of 51 as Truro reached their target of 93 in just 16.2 overs for the loss of three wickets. Falmouth moved up to third after destroying bottom-of-the-table Grampound Road by nine wickets at home. Grampound were bowled out for just 67, only Mpho Sekhoto hit a score in double figures with 17, as Falmouth's bowlers tore through Grampound in 34 overs. George Popperwell took 4-28 and Antony had 3-8. It took Falmouth just 15 overs to reach their target, opener Stephen Williams top scoring with 21 not out. Finally Paul dropped to fourth after losing by four wickets at Werrington, who move up to fifth. Batting first Paul made 128-9 from their 55 overs, a target Werrington reached on 43.4 overs after losing six wickets.
