Sporting Club out of title race

Jersey cricket's Premier League title is now down to a two-horse race between Old Victorians and champions Romerils.

Romerils beat Sporting Club Francais by five runs in a cliff hanger at Grainville on Saturday.

Batting first, the champions scored 207-5 with John Prince getting 65 and Ryan Driver scoring 50.

Sporting Club fell just short of their target, making 202 all out as Meeku Patidar hit 55 runs and Matt Hague made 39, Driver took 4-22.

Romerils stay top but right behind them are Old Victorians who enjoyed a 44-run victory over St Ouen at the FB Fields.

OV's scored 240-7 in the first innings. Captain Chris Jones getting 73 and Jonny Gough scoring 56.

St Ouen were 196 all out in reply, but Aussie Dean Morrison had a fantastic innings, scoring the 143 not out as Peter Gough took 4-44 while twin brother Jonny had 4-31.

In the other game of the day at Les Quennevais between the bottom two sides Caesareans won their first league game of the season, beating second bottom Springfield by 92 runs.

Caesereans hit 244-6 with Dave Gorman scoring 80, Aaron Eager 40 and Stuart Cole 37.

Springfield made 152 all out in 38.5 overs in reply. Pat Kelly and Neil Hall each scoring 33 as Charlie Johnson took 2-18.

With two matches left to play this season Romerils are top of the table with 286 points, 36 ahead of Old Victorians with Sporting Club third on 232.

St Ouen have 174 points Springfield are fifth with 153 and Caesareans are still bottom with 120.

Romerils and OV's still have to play St Ouen and Caesareans, so if the matches go to form Romerils should be able to retain their title.
