Optimists finally get first win

Guernsey cricket

Optimists got their first win of the season in the Guernsey Cricket Championship after beating Rovers by seven wickets at Port Soif.

Mark Clapham and Tom Magson both got half-centuries as Optimists reached their target of 170-3 to beat Rovers' first innings score of 169-8.

Mark Jeffries took three wickets for Optimists during the Rovers innings.

Cobo stay unbeaten at the top of the table after crushing second-from-bottom Argyll Investment by 227 runs.

They hit 309-1 in their 45 overs, with island batsmen Matt Oliver getting 142 not out and Jeremy Frith 101 not out.

In reply Argyll managed just 82 all out.

With four games to go Cobo could take the title with just two more wins.
