Rovers upset Wanderers by 20 runs

Guernsey Cricket

Wanderers are now further behind leaders Cobo in the Guernsey Cricket Championship after going down to second-from-bottom Rovers by 20 runs.

Wanderers reduced Rovers to 61-6 before a fine seventh wicket stand between Tim Duke (55 not out) and Robbie Le Corre (40) moved them onto 173 all out.

Wanderers then suffered a catastrophic batting collapse, slipping from a score of 35-0 to 51-5.

Ben Driver's 72 not out was not enough to avoid a score of 153 all out.

Elsewhere Guernsey teenager Ben Ravenscroft continues to strike fear into the island's bowlers.

The 16-year-old scored 152 not out for Elizabeth College in a 117-run victory over Argyll Investments. It was his second century this season after scoring 121 off just 64 balls in a Twenty20 game a fortnight ago.

His batting helped the College end their innings on 264-8. In reply Argylls could only manage 145 all out with Carl le Tissier top scoring with 60.

Cobo still lead the Championship, with Wanderers second. College stay third while Rovers move up a place to fourth at the expense of Argyll Investments. Optimists stay bottom.
