Phil Caley needs 50 runs to break the county record |
Suffolk skipper Phil Caley's knock of 83 against Cumberland on Sunday leaves him needing just 50 more runs to beat Simon Clements' record runs aggregate. Caley's innings on the first day of the Minor Counties Championship game at Ipswich helped his side reach a commanding total of 357. Spinners Tom Huggins and Chris Swallow then took 11 wickets as Suffolk cruised to win by an innings and eight runs. The victory, inside two days, gave Suffolk a maximum 24 points. Caley was helped in Suffolk's innings by a half century from Swallow and good contributions from Ben France and Chris Warn, while Andrew McGarry took four wickets.
