Coach shrugs off Gilchrist fears
Adam Gilchrist keeps standing up to the wicket in an earlier match in the CB Series
Gilchrist is in the final stages of a stellar international career
Adam Gilchrist will be fit for the rest of the triangular CB Series despite injuring his left thumb on Sunday, insists Australia coach Tim Nielsen.

Gilchrist, who will retire from international cricket at the end of the tournament, was hurt against India.

"Unless it's pretty much chopped off, he'll be right," said Nielsen, while physio Alex Kountouris added he expects Gilchrist to be "fully fit".

Keeper Gilchrist appeared to suffer the injury standing up to Stuart Clark.

He was clearly concerned about his hand for the rest of the innings.

As he has already announced this will be his last series for Australia, it seemed his "farewell tour", as it has been dubbed, might come to a premature end.

But Nielsen said: "Keepers are a pretty tough breed. Hopefully over the next couple of days he'll have an X-ray that shows there's no fracture."

Australia's next match is against Sri Lanka in Melbourne on Friday.
