Lara is looking ahead to next year's World Cup in the Caribbean |
West Indies captain Brian Lara said his side's impressive one-day series win over India had filled him with optimism for the future. "I'm very excited about how the team is improving - the team is growing which is most important," said Lara.
"I tell the guys the team belongs to them. I'm going to lead them out there but I expect guys to make major contributions on and off the field
"That's happening now. We're on the road to get ready for the World Cup."
The West Indies have arrested their slump in form to take an unassailable 3-1 lead in the best-of-five series.
Lara added: "There is an abundance of talent in our team - what we were lacking was confidence and we are growing in this area.
"In the next few months, you will continue to see improvements.
"We are sharing the responsibilities. We have had Ramnaresh Sarwan, Chris Gayle, Shivnarine Chanderpaul, and Runako Morton, it is good to see everyone making a contribution, and that is what is very, very good about this team."
Meanwhile, India captain Rahul Dravid was clear about which section of his side was to blame for the surprise series defeat.
"We haven't got enough runs, to be very honest, in all the games except the first one," said Dravid.
"We just haven't put the runs on the board.
"We've struggled a bit on these wickets to get to terms with some of their spinners especially.
"We didn't play well today, we were pretty much outplayed in all departments."
