Taylor's innings provided some consolation for the tourists |
Zimbabwe were facing the prospect of a heavy defeat by a Pakistan Board Patron's XI in Lahore despite Brendon Taylor's maiden first-class century. The young opener struck a six and 21 fours in his 141 as the tourists made 324 all out in their second innings.
But it did not avert the follow-on and they were then reduced to 142-8.
They were still 63 runs in arrears at the close as Riaz Afridi, Yasir Arafat, Rao Iftikhar and Mansoor Amjad claimed two wickets each.
Taylor was kept back until number six to give him time to recover from his six-hour marathon.
But he fell for 16 and the main contributions came from Dion Ebrahim (37) and Alester Maregwede (30).
Zimbabwe play Pakistan in the first match of a tri-series, also involving Sri Lanka, at Multan on 30 September.
