Indian cricket authorities will send a team of security experts to Pakistan next month to review arrangements for India's first tour in 14 years. The trip is scheduled to take place in March and April, as long as India players' safety fears can be calmed.
"We have not been informed about the exact dates but they are coming some time next month," said Pakistan Cricket Board chairman Shaharyar Khan.
"If they want more assurances, we are ready to give it."
India's security concerns have heightened following a bomb blast in front of an Anglican cathedral in Karachi on Thursday that resulted in 11 people being wounded.
South Africa and New Zealand have both toured in the last six months after carrying out extensive safety checks, and under heavy guard from Pakistan's security forces.
But both sides refused to play in the volatile city of Karachi, where the New Zealand team witnessed a bus bomb in 2002.
India are proposing to play a Test each at Lahore, Rawalpindi and Karachi followed by one-day internationals in Karachi, two in Lahore, Faisalabad and Peshawar.
The tour comes after the Indian government lifted a three-year ban on its side taking on their arch-rivals away from major tournaments.
The two sides drew a four-Test series in Pakistan in 1989-90.
