India confirms Pakistan tour
BCCI president Jagmohan Dalmiya
Dalmiya thinks an itinerary will be worked out shortly
India's first Test series in Pakistan for 15 years will go ahead, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) confirmed.

The tour, due to take place in March 2004, was given the green light by the Indian government last month.

India have not played a Test match in Pakistan since 1989 and cricketing ties had been severed between the two countries in December 2001 following a terrorist bombing on the Indian parliament building.

Officials from both cricket boards now need to finalise an itinerary that allows India enough rest from their tour to Australia and agree on venues.

"The senior Indian cricket team will tour Pakistan some time in March. The details are being worked out," said BCCI president Jagmohan Dalmiya.

"The tour will take place once the Indian team comes back from their Australian tour and have had some rest.

"The process of finalizing the details of the tour has started and there should be no problem."
