Wasim makes charity farewell

Wasim ranks as one of the game's all-time greats
Former Pakistan captain Wasim Akram will play what may be the last match of his career in Lahore on Wednesday.

He will appear for a Pakistan XI against a World XI in a charity game to raise funds for the Zindagi Trust for underpriveleged children.

West Indian Courtney Walsh and Dean Jones of Australia will come out of retirement to play for the World side.

Wasim took a record 502 wickets in one-day matches and 414 in Tests during his career.

"I always wanted to play my last match in Lahore," he has been quoted as saying.

"Playing in front of my home crowd for a noble cause will not only give me pleasure, but satisfaction."

Pakistan XI (from): Imran Farhat, Taufiq Umar, Imran Nazir, Yasir Hameed, Abdul Razzaq, Moin Khan, Mushtaq Ahmed, Wasim Akram, Shoaib Akhtar, Junaid Zia, Saqlain Mushtaq, Shoaib Malik,Misbah-ul-Haq.

World XI (from): Sanath Jayasuriya, Rumesh Kaluwitharana (SrL), Venkatesh Prasad, Robin Singh (Ind), Courtney Walsh, Jimmy Adams, Franklyn Rose (WI), Steve Tikolo (Ken), Travis Friend (Zim), Neil Fairbrother (Eng), Dean Jones (Aus) + two South Africans.
