First Test, Karachi, day two (close): Bangladesh 288 v Pakistan 301-5

Inzamam-ul-Haq walks off for a duck
Inzamam failed on his comeback

Yasir Hameed notched up the highest score by a Pakistan player on debut as the hosts cemented their authority in the first Test.

But comeback veteran Inzamam-ul-Haq, off the scene since a deplorable World Cup showing, let the side down with a five-ball duck.

After dismissing Bangladesh for 288 early on the second morning, Pakistan reached 301-5 at the end of the second day's play.

The ninth Pakistani to make a ton on Test debut, 25-year-old Yasir made a staggering 170 before succumbing to Mashrafe Mortaza.

Pakistan got off to the worst possible start when Bangladeshi seamer Mashrafe had rookie opener Mohammad Hafeez (two) caught by Javed Omar at point with the total on five.

Taufeeq Umur and Yasir combined to add 97 for the second wicket.

But Taufeeq, who also scored a century against Bangladesh in his maiden Test two years ago, was on his way when offering Javed a second catch, off Mohammad Rafique's bowling.

Bangladesh were in raptures when, just six balls later, Inzamam was caught by Rajin Saleh off Tapash Baisya for a duck.

But Yasir and Yousuf Youhana (46) steadied the ship and at the end of the day Misbah-ul-Haq was 12 not out and captain Rashid Latif unbeaten on 27.

Earlier, Bangladesh added 10 runs to their overnight score before Shabbir Ahmad removed Rafique (14) to finish off the tail and claim a haul of 3-61.
