Bangladesh have named a new coach for a one-day tournament they are hosting in April.

They have also dropped four batsmen from the much-criticised World Cup squad as they attempt to find an elusive winning formula.

Sarwar Imran will take over from previous coach, Mohsin Kamal of Pakistan, who was sacked after the Bangladesh team failed to win a single match at the World Cup in South Africa.

Imran, a professional coach, had a brief stint with the national team in 2001.

Batsmen Al Sahariar, Hannan Sarkar and Sanwar Hossain and Ehsanul Haque have all fallen foul of a general shake-up, meanwhile.

On Saturday, Bangladesh named Khaled Mahmud as their new skipper.

And on Sunday Javed Omar, Mehrab Hossein, Tareq Aziz and Anwar Hossein, came in to replace the four dropped players.

Omar has a highest score of 85 not out, having appeared in 24 one-day internationals, hitting three other fifties along the way.

Right-hander Mehrab, 24, already has a one-day century to his name, having appeared in just 15 one-dayers.

Seamer Aziz has four wickets to his name in three matches while Anwar will be playing only his second one-day match.

Ex-skipper and wicket-keeper Khaled Mashud, whose resignation was accepted after the World Cup, retains his place in the squad.

The tournament in which Bangladesh host India and South Africa begins on 11 April.

Bangladesh squad: Khaled Mahmud (capt), Javed Omar, Mehrab Hossain, Mohammad Ashraful, Habibul Bashar, Akram Khan, Alok Kapali, Tushar Imran, Khaled Mashud, Anwar Hossain, Mohammad Rafique, Tapash Baisya, Manjural Islam, Tareq Aziz, Talha Jubair.
