Bangladesh had a dismal record under Mashud |
Bangladesh captain Khaled Mashud has offered his resignation followng his team's ill-fated World Cup campaign. A Bangladeshi newspaper said the under-fire skipper had submitted his letter of resignation to the Bangladesh Cricket Board on Sunday.
Masud, who has in the job since November 2001, cited personal and family reasons for his decision to quit, according to an unnamed BCB official.
He had been widely tipped to resign or be fired after Bangladesh's poor World Cup performances.
Coach Moshin Kamal has already left his job.
Bangladesh has not won a Test or limited-overs international match under Mashud's captaincy.
It leaves BCB officials looking for a new captain ahead of a tri-nation limited-overs tournament in Dhaka in April featuring Bangladesh, India and South Africa.
Mashud and BCB officials were not immediately available for comment.
