Saturday had a silver lining for Scotland as they added to their medal tally at the Commonwealth Games. Aberdonian shooting stars Jonathan Hammond and Shona Marshall and Kilmarnock weightlifter Peter Kirkbride finished second in their events. Kirkbride's medal came in the 94kg category in Delhi. Marshall was competing in the clay target trap singles, while Hammond's medal came in the men's 50m rifle three positions singles. Hammond finished second behind India's Gangan Narang to add to the bronze he achieved on Friday. It was revenge for the Scot over his English opponent, James Huckle, who took the bronze medal. Hammond and partner Neil Stirton had been beaten by Huckle and Kenny Parr to silver in the pairs event. England and Scotland had the same combined score, but Huckle and Parr took silver on the x count - an additional target within the maximum 10 target. Marshall came second behind England shooter Anita North in a close-fought final at the Dr Karni Singh Shooting Range.
