Renwick anchors Scotland to relay silver

Robbie Renwick added to his medal haul when he swam the final leg as Scotland clinched silver in the men's 4x200m relay at the Commonwealth Games.

Australia were in the lead from the start as they headed for gold by setting a new Games record of 7:10.29.

Andrew Hunter led the chase for the Scots and a superb second leg by 400m freestyle bronze medallist David Carry put the Scots clear in second.

Jak Scott handed over to 200m gold medallist Renwick to secure second.

Scotland finished in 7:14.02 in Delhi, with South Africa taking the bronze medal.

Renwick told BBC Scotland: "We would have liked to have another gold, but the Australians are so dominant in that event.

"For a small country like Scotland to come second is a huge boost for us.

"We are hosting the games in four years time, so hopefully we will be up there first on the podium next time."

Hunter was also delighted, pointing out that it was a new Scottish record.

"It was a fantastic team effort again," he said. "Everyone raised their game just one more time for that relay and to come away with another silver medal is absolutely brilliant."
