Hebborn, who spent three years swimming in Australia, now trains in Bath |
Suffolk swimmer Chris Walker-Hebborn has said he is confident of claiming gold in the 200m backstroke at the Commonwealth Games in Delhi. The 20-year-old British record holder will take to the pool in India on Wednesday, along with fellow England swimmer James Goddard. "I'm going in with the hopes to get the gold, I think I can," Walker-Hebborn told BBC Radio Suffolk. "And I'm looking to gain a bit more experience and knowledge." And although Walker-Hebborn is expecting tough competition from Goddard, the 2002 Commonwealth Games 200m backstroke gold medallist, the Bury St Edmunds swimmer said the pair enjoy a good relationship. "I'm good mates with James," he said. "I get on well with him and it's always fun to race him." Walker-Hebborn, who will also be competing in the 100m backstroke in Delhi, began swimming in senior competitions for the first time in 2009.
