"It really is an honour to have been chosen to carry the Saltire and lead Team Scotland out for the opening ceremony," the 27-year-old said. Edgar, who won an Olympic silver medal in 2008, has won one gold, one silver and two bronze medals in his two Games. The cyclist will ride in the sprint and keirin events at the velodrome. "The fact that the selection is made by the other athletes makes it even more special," he said. "This is my third Commonwealth Games and I won medals at both of the previous ones, so I would love to keep that record up. "I'm looking forward to getting back on the track with the team."
