England beat Germany 2-0 in the bronze medal play-off in Argentina |
Canterbury's Natalie Seymour insists the England hockey squad are looking forward to the Commonwealth Games in Delhi despite fears over safety. Team Scotland and Jersey have delayed their departure to India because of problems with the athletes' village. But Seymour told BBC Radio Kent: "No-one has directly talked of concerns about going. "It's obviously in the back of your mind but we've all decided we want to go to the Commonwealth Games." "After the high of coming back with a bronze medal we all feel really excited about the opportunity to chase for a medal," added Seymour. "It'll be a great opportunity to play in the stadium where the men's World Cup was held earlier in the year. "They enjoyed really good crowds as they really love their hockey out there so it will be a great experience." Seymour and the rest of the squad are due to fly out to Delhi on Sunday. "The Commonwealth Games Committee and our performance director from England Hockey have gone to India prior to us travelling, and we feel like we're being really well informed about what's going on," she said. "They're doing all they can to make sure everything's in place for when we fly out. "We're all very aware of the situation out there at the moment but as far as we're concerned we're just trying to prepare for the tournament and make sure we do all we can so we perform well when we get out there."
