In the women's event, Betty Morgan beat Fiji's Litia Tikoisuva while Northern Ireland's Margaret Johnston overcame Australia's Maria Rigby.
But Allison Merrien of Guernsey went out to Ahmad Siti Zalina of Malaysia.
