After 18 months away from the sport three-time Olympic medallist Tim Brabants will this weekend make his first appearance for Great Britain at a major international event since the 2008 Beijing Games.
During his time away from the sport Brabants has focused on his medical career. The 33-year-old is a qualified doctor and intends to return to the ward upon completing his Olympic career after the London Games.
BBC Sport's Nick Hope caught up with the sprint canoeist at his training base in Teddington, Greater London.
