Jeffries is undefeated in his eight professional fights |
Sunderland light-heavyweight Tony Jeffries has parted company with Manchester-based trainer Bobby Rimmer after 18 months in partnership. Jeffries will be trained by Sean Casey for his fight on the bill of the Jason Booth-Steve Molitor IBF world super-bantamweight bout on 11 September. "It is no reflection on the job Bobby has done," said promoter Frank Maloney. "Everyone involved with Tony's career would like to thank Bobby for all the sacrifices he has made for Tony." Jeffries remains undefeated in his eight outings since turning professional, with seven wins and a draw, but Maloney is yet to confirm the opponent for his next fight. Rimmer, a former assistant trainer of ex-light-welterweight world champion Ricky Hatton, had overseen Jeffries' career up to the 25-year-old's last fight against Michael Banbula in July. He will continue to coach other fighters in Maloney's stable, including light-middleweight fighter Brian Rose.
