Jeffries cool on Bellew showdown

Jeffries is not looking to fight Tony Bellew any time soon

Olympic bronze medallist Tony Jeffries says it would take something special for him to fight fellow light-heavyweight Tony Bellew.

Jeffries, 23, who turned professional earlier this week, is good friends with Liverpool's Bellew from their time representing Great Britain together.

"If it was a big world-title fight I think I'd fight him," Jeffries told BBC Radio Merseyside.

"I wouldn't want to fight him before that as he's a good friend of mine."

Bellew boxed as a heavyweight in the amateurs before growing disillusioned with the international set-up and turning professional in 2007.

He has since dropped down to light-heavyweight and has won his first seven fights in the paid ranks, with four of those wins by knock-out.

Sunderland's Jeffries added any potential match-up between the two men would need to be mutually beneficial.

"There would have to be a lot of money involved," said Jeffries.
