Woods has lost his last three fights in the United States |
Promoter Dennis Hobson has revealed that an ear infection may have prevented Clinton Woods from regaining his IBF light-heayweight title. Hobson told BBC Radio Sheffield: "On the day of the fight his glands were [swollen] up, could that explain why he didn't have that extra gear?" Hobson says it was several hours after the fight in Florida that Woods complained of a discharge from his ear. "We went to the clinic and it turns out he's got an ear infection," he said. Clinton suffered a points defeat to American IBF challenger Tavoris Cloud in Florida. Cloud, 27, scored 116-112 on all three judges' scorecards in Florida to take his unbeaten record to 20 (18 knock outs). Woods, 37, had twice won the IBF belt but could not score a first victory in the United States at the third attempt.
