Froch is in demand after his spectacular win over Jermain Taylor

WBC super-middleweight champion Carl Froch hopes to secure a unification bout with Canadian IBF holder Lucian Bute later this year.

Froch retained his title with a memorable final-round stoppage of Jermain Taylor last month and is keen to add another belt to his collection.

"We seem to be making some ground, but there's nothing official," said Froch.

"It's a fight I'm definitely interested in. I'm the WBC champion and I want to unify the belts."

The 30-year-old had been linked with fights against veteran light-heavyweight star Bernard Hopkins and WBA super-middleweight champion Mikkel Kessler.

But a fight against Bute now looks to be the most likely next outing for Froch.

And the Nottingham boxer is willing to travel to Canada in order to make the fight happen, just as he went to Connecticut to take on Taylor.

"He pulls a big crowd in Montreal," added Froch.

"We're talking about 15,000-20,000 fans. But with the Canadian dollar the way it is, if you work it out in comparison, it's probably the same as getting 7,000 in the Nottingham Arena.

"If I have to go to Canada and fight Lucian Bute over there I'll do it. But I'd like to get a fight in Nottingham, for the fans."
