Froch is undefeated in 25 fights |
World super-middleweight champion Carl Froch says he would be interested in fighting American Bernard Hopkins. One-time middleweight champion Hopkins floated the possibility of the fight after seeing Froch successfully defend his WBC title in the United States. "Would I consider fighting a guy like that?" Hopkins told BBC Radio 5 Live. "Yeah I would look at that." Froch added: "If he's talking about it then we would definitely look at it if it could be done." Last year super-middleweight king Joe Calzaghe, who has dismissed the possibility of coming out of retirement to fight Froch, beat Hopkins on a split decision in Las Vegas at light-heavyweight to become a two-weight world champion. "I wouldn't want to give too much weight away to Hopkins," said Froch. "He's very experienced and he's very big and strong, but it's something I would be keen to do." Froch produced one of the great comebacks to retain his WBC super-middleweight crown against Jermain Taylor in Mashantucket, Connecticut. | 606: DEBATE |
Nottingham's Froch was well behind on two scorecards going into the 12th round but produced a grandstand finish to stop Taylor with seconds remaining. The 44-year-old Hopkins enjoyed a 10-year reign as middleweight champion in which he successfully defended a title a record 20 times.
