McIntosh's last Norwich fight was at the Showground against Rob Burton
Norwich light-heavyweight Danny McIntosh has been handed a shot at the English title against Steve Spartacus.
McIntosh, 28, will face the 31-year-old from Ipswich on the undercard of Jon Thaxton's European title shot at the Royal Norfolk Showground on 4 October.
McIntosh told BBC Radio Norfolk: "Me and him have got a bit of history, sparring and training together.
"He's a great lad, I just can't wait to get in there and prove that I'm the new kid on the block."
McIntosh, who is unbeaten in seven fights, since turning professional at the age of 24, admitted it has been some time since the two came face-to-face.
"Training with him was good, I don't know him that well now and he's a foe now and he's going to until the fight is over," he said.
Spartacus admitted that his time in the gym with McIntosh certainly left an impression.
"I do rate him and he's got a lot of talent, he has also got a big head and a big mouth but I'll be sorting that out on the night.
"There's a bit of needle and rivalry between us but more on his part than mine.
"Ive always been ahead of him and never really thought about him as competition until now," he added.
