European super-bantamweight champion Rendall Munroe is just two fights away from challenging for a world title, according to manager Mike Shinfield.

The Leicester boxer, 28, will defend his belt at Nottingham's Harvey Hadden Leisure Centre on 5 September.

And Shinfield told BBC Radio Leicester: "Rendall already qualifies to fight for a world title.

"He probably needs a couple more fights and by early next year he should be ready and boxing for a world title."

Munroe, who works as a binman in Leicester and trains in Derby, retained his European crown with a routine win over Frenchman Salem Bouaita in Nottingham in May.
