Hibernian have paid tribute to former midfielder Bobby Smith, who has died from cancer at the age of 56.
The Dalkeith-born player made 196 appearances over three spells with the Edinburgh club.
Smith, who also played at full-back, enjoyed spells at Leicester City, Peterborough, Dunfermline, Partick Thistle and Berwick Rangers.
"Everyone wishes to to pass their condolences on to Bobby's family and friends," Hibs said on their website.
Smith was born on 21 December 1953 and started out on a professional football career at Easter Road in 1972.
He made 152 appearances for the Edinburgh outfit in his original six-year spell, scoring 19 goals.
Smith moved south to join Leicester City in 1978, making 181 appearances in an eight-year spell and scoring 21 goals.
The midfielder went on loan at Peterborough in 1982 before a loan move to Hibs a year later.
After returning to Hibs ahead of the 1986/87 season, he moved to Dunfermline, helping them win the First Division title in 1989.
He retired from the game in 1991, following spells at Partick Thistle and Berwick Rangers.
