Williams to get back in the ring
Dazzo Williams
Dazzo Williams is back in action
Former British featherweight champion Dazzo Williams is to get back in the ring to help out his local boxing club.

Williams, 34, is training for a Spar-a-thon, attempting to box over 100 rounds with the members at Wye ABC.

He will step in the ring at 1200 GMT on Saturday, 29 March. And club spokesman Vince McNally says they are raising money to put on their first show.

"We believe we can make a difference in our community by supporting our young people," said McNally.

Wye ABC, which has been running for almost two years, was founded by local boxing hero Williams, who won a Lonsdale belt outright as British champion between November 2003 and June 2005, and a team of dedicated volunteers.

McNally says Williams knows almost every young person at the club by name and the youth of Hereford have the greatest of respect for him.

"His commitment is a major factor in the success of the club," said McNally. "And also in helping provide an outlet for young people to be able to become part of a disciplined successful club."

Members range from nine to 50 and the club has training facilities that meet the standard of the Amateur Boxing Association.
