Nasir is hoping to secure Olympic qualification |
Four Welsh boxers will travel to Chicago later this month to compete at the World Amateur Championships. Light flyweight Mo Nasir, flyweight Andrew Selby, bantamweight Chris Jenkins and middleweight Tobias Webb will be flying the flag for Wales.
All four will secure places in Great Britain's team for next year's Olympics if they reach the quarter-finals.
Nasir and Selby have both been training with the Great Britain squad as part of their build up to the Olympics.
Commonwealth Games bronze medallist Nasir, of the St Joseph's Boxing Club in Newport, is vying for the Olympic spot with England's Darran Langley.
"Darran beat me in the Commonwealth Games semis and I lost to him by one point in the EU Championships," said the 21-year-old.
"But I've improved since I've been training full-time with the English podium boys in Sheffield. I'm a lot stronger now and I'm mentally ready.
"Only one can go out of me and Darran. If we both qualified the one who got the furthest in Chicago would go."
The World Amateur Championships take place from 21 October to 3 November.
