Khan tips Wales' Nasir for glory
Mo Nasir
Khan believes Nasir has the tools to take him to the top
Amir Khan has likened Commonwealth Games bronze medallist Mo Nasir's fighting style to that of Naseem Hamed.

Olympic silver medallist Khan says Nasir has the talent to flourish at the Beijing Olympics and in the paid ranks.

"Mo has a different style, one that confuses people," said Khan, 19. "It's the same style as Nas had and it could suit the professional game.

"He likes people pressuring him, with his hands low and his movement they don't know where the punches are from."

Mo should stay an amateur for a few years and try to qualify for the Olympics

Newport light-flyweight Nasir, 20, won bronze at last month's Melbourne Games, and Khan does not believe he should leave the amateur ranks yet.

"He should stay an amateur for a few years and try to qualify for the Olympics, that would give him a lot of experience that will benefit him in the future," the Bolton prodigy told BBC Radio Wales' Back Page programme.

"He'll learn a lot in that time and will enjoy it, he's only young but he'll get the chance to mix with the big boys, box a lot of east Europeans, and see how his style works in different circumstances.

"That will teach him to change and adapt, to expand his range of options if one thing isn't working."

Nasir was beaten in the Melbourne semi-final by eventual silver medallist Darran Langley of England.

He is likely to have to overcome the Londoner if he is to win selection for Beijing, and that is something Khan believes is within the Welshman's capability.

"All the home nations did well in Melbourne and they brought home a lot of medals," said Khan, who will be aiming for his seventh straight professional win when he meets an as-yet unnamed opponent in Belfast on 20 May.

"It was a pity that Darran and Mo met so early, they were both capable of winning gold and that would have been a worthy final.

"They'll probably meet again before the Olympics, and in that year-and-a-half Mo will get physically stronger and more experienced, he will have every chance of winning."
