Froch has won all his 21 fights inside the distance |
Unbeaten British and Commonwealth super middleweight champion Carl Froch says he wants to earn the chance to be WBO champion Joe Calzaghe's next opponent. Froch, ranked third by the WBO, wants to take on number one-ranked contender Denis Inkin to earn a shot at Calzaghe.
"Joe says he's looking to make the most money possible from his next fight," said the Nottingham fighter.
"Given the options open to him, that must mean fighting me. It certainly wouldn't mean someone like Inkin."
Wales' Calzaghe, 35, already has his 21st title defence pencilled in for July, but his opponent has not yet been named.

Denmark's Mikkel Kessler, the WBA and WBC title-holder, and middleweight king Jermain Taylor have both been mentioned as possible options.
With the WBO's number two-ranked contender Lucian Bute apparently not interested, Inkin is in prime position, but Froch says a fight between him and Calzaghe would be more lucrative.
"The fight would sell out in an instant; it would be one of the biggest in British boxing history," he said.
"For domestic broadcasters, there isn't a bigger contest out there. They would really get behind it.
"I will give him a proper fight. I just want to give the British fans a fight they deserve.
"I am a proper challenger. I am the best in the division and politics shouldn't stop us meeting. It would be an exciting battle before I smoked his boots."
