Froch wants to fight WBO champion Joe Calzaghe this year |
Carl Froch signalled his world title intentions by stopping Sergey Tatevosyan in two rounds in Nottingham. The super middleweight extended his unbeaten record to 21 fights, becoming the first man to stop the rugged Siberian courtesy of a big right.
Tatevosyan managed to beat the count but was taking further punishment when referee Terry O'Connor stepped in.
"I've done what nobody else has managed to do and sent out a clear message to the world champions," said Froch.

On top of Froch's list is a showdown with WBO champion Calzaghe, who is next due to defend his title against Peter Manfredo at Cardiff's Millennium Stadium next month.
Froch said: "In an ideal world I would go after Calzaghe. Soon he will have no choice but to vacate or fight me, then we will see what kind of man he is.
"If he is a proud and strong man and a warrior, which I believe he is, he should step in the ring with me and we will put on a great British fight.
"Tatevosyan is a world-class opponent and I got in there and annihilated him in two rounds so I have proved my worth. I want to prove to the world that I am good enough."
Froch is ranked in the top three of the 12-stone division by both the WBC and the WBA.
