Doherty is undefeated in 18 fights
Pontypool welterweight Tony Doherty extended his unbeaten record with a 60-55 points win over Pole Andrzej Butowicz at the York Hall.

The 23-year-old now has 17 wins from 18 fights (one no contest).

Doherty, back from a broken hand, is preparing for a Celtic title clash with Taz Jones on the Joe Calzaghe undercard at the Millennium Stadium on 8 July.

Calzaghe's stablemate Nathan King lost an untidy 60-55 points decision to Tony Oakey at light heavyweight.

It was Oakey's second win over King, but the fight was disrupted by holding from both men.

The Portsmouth man hurt his right hand, an injury that looks likely to delay his next outing.
