Brian Magee will be in action in the National Stadium later this month |
Former IBO super-middleweight champion Brian Magee will fight in Dublin on 28 January in a warm-up to his title showdown with Carl Froch. The Belfast southpaw has been lined up for an eight-rounder against an as yet unnamed opponent.
The 30-year-old will take on British and Commonwealth champion Froch at the King's Hall in Belfast on 31 March.
Belfast featherweight Kevin O'Hara and Lurgan welterweight Stephen Haughian will also be in action in Dublin.
Magee got his seven-year career back on track with a second round stoppage of Armenian Varuzhan Davtyan at the same National Stadium venue in October.
"Brian was one of the best amateurs to ever grace the ring at the National Stadium and I know he loved fighting there for the first time as a pro on my last show," said promoter Brian Peters, whose protege Bernard Dunne will headline the bill.
"He had an impressive stoppage win that night and he'll be looking to do the same on this next show because he has a huge fight with Carl Froch on the horizon."
An opponent for unbeaten Dubliner Dunne is due to be confirmed shortly.
The chief support bout on the night features an Irish lightweight title fight between Michael Gomez and Peter McDonagh.
