Former IBO super-middleweight champion Brian Magee got his career back on track with a second round stoppage of Varuzhan Davtyan on Friday night.

Magee unloaded a blistering combination to stagger the Armenian midway through the second and a further barrage of punches led the referee to call a halt.

The Belfast boxer lost a controversial decision to Vitali Tsypko in a European title fight in Germany in the summer.

The European Boxing Union has told Magee he can fight the champion again.

In the meantime, Magee believes he has to stay busy in order to get his revenge when the fighters meet again.

"When I fought him the last time I hadn't boxed in seven months and even though I thought I won the fight it was still a factor.

"Now I just want to remain active and I know that when I get my chance again I'll beat him and if I have to go to Germany again I will."
