Froch says he is ready to take on Magee at short notice |
British and Commonwealth super middleweight champion Carl Froch has offered to fight Brian Magee after Joe Calzaghe withdrew from Friday's fight. Northern Ireland's Magee and Calzaghe were due to meet in Belfast, but the WBO were unable to sanction the bout.
"If the Board of Control clear it, I am happy to get on a plane right now and fly to Ireland," Froch said.
"I would knock him clean out with only 20 minutes preparation on the pads. I am that kind of fighter," he added.
The WBO has stopped Calzaghe's defence of his WBO super middleweight title against Magee because of a rule which prohibits a champion from fighting less than 60 days before an enforced mandatory defence.
Calzaghe was last month ordered to fight number one contender Mario Veit in Germany on 7 May.
Veit's promoters protested over the Welshman's match against Magee, and the WBO has accepted their complaint.
Froch is not worried about his fitness if he is called to step in.
"I was in training for a fight in Los Angeles last month that unfortunately got cancelled, but I haven't been out of the gym since, so I am bang on weight," he said.
