Nelson has been champ since 1999 |
WBO cruiserweight champion Johnny Nelson still hopes to defend his title against Italian Vincenzo Cantatore. The Sheffield boxer was frustrated on Thursday when Cantatore's camp delayed the bout - scheduled to take place in Rome on 12 March - for a second time.
But Nelson, 38, believes any obstacles can now be removed by April.
"I am led to believe that the Italian promoters can stage the fight in six weeks and that the problem lies with the Italian TV schedule," he said.
The pair had also been set to meet in December before Cantatore withdrew.
And Nelson has also been linked with a fight against Welshman Enzo Maccarinelli.
The Briton won the WBO title in 1999, beating domestic rival Carl Thompson with a fifth-round stoppage.
