Ricky Hatton will defend his WBU light welterweight title against Ray Oliveira at ExCel in London on 11 December. Hatton is biding his time by facing the 36-year-old as he waits for a crack at either Kostya Tszyu or Sharmba Mitchell for the undisputed world crown.
Oliveira's record is 47-9-2, including a convincing points win over current WBA champion Vivian Harris in 2000.
But he boasts only 22 stoppage wins and has not fought a truly top-class opponent for three years.
Hatton's 15th defence will take place on the same night as Danny Williams' WBC world heavyweight title clash with Vitali Klitschko.
That bout is expected to be confirmed on Tuesday for the Mandalay Bay resort in Las Vegas.
