Skelton won the British title in 2004 |
Matt Skelton will defend his British heavyweight title against Essex puncher John McDermott on 10 December. The fight will be on the same bill as the Danny Williams-Audley Harrison fight at London's ExCel Arena.
The undefeated Skelton, 38, was due to have fought Kevin McBride but the Irishman pulled out last week.
The 25-year-old McDermott has 19 wins from 21 fights, including 13 knockouts, and lost a challenge for the English title against Mark Krence last year.
Skelton had initially been set to face former British champion Williams, but that bout also fell through.
McBride, meanwhile, is being lined up for a fight against the winner of WBA champion John Ruiz v Russia's Nicolay Valuev.
Frank Warren will be celebrating his 25th anniversary as a British Boxing Board of Control-licensed promoter on 10 December.
And he is lining up a star-studded bill in London - including Olympic silver medallist Amir Khan - to mark the event.
