Vitali Klitschko has been inactive since last December |
Hasim Rahman will be given the chance to fight Vitali Klitschko for the WBC heavyweight crown in November, according to promoter Bob Arum. Arum, who outbid Don King for the fight, plans to stage it on 12 November in Las Vegas, Nevada.
And it is thought that champion Klitschko will get 4m, with challenger Rahman taking home 2.5m.
Klitschko, 34, was scheduled to fight Rahman earlier this year but underwent back surgery in April.
The Ukrainian is still considered to be the "kingpin" of the division, but has not fought since stopping Britain's Danny Williams last December.
Rahman made his name with a shock knockout of Lennox Lewis in 2001 and set himself up for another title tilt by beating Monte Barrett on 13 August.
"We were wrangling for a purse bid on this fight," said Arum.
"It's a compelling match-up. Klitschko is regarded as the true champion. Rahman is very dangerous, as he proved in his first fight with Lennox Lewis."
