Branco pulls out of Witter clash
Junior Witter
Witter has won 15 consecutive bouts inside the distance
European light welterweight champion Junior Witter is looking for a new opponent after Italy's Gianluca Branco pulled out of their proposed bout.

The title fight was set to be included on the same bill as Bernard Hopkins' defence against Howard Eastman in Los Angeles on 19 February.

However Branco has relinquished his position as the mandatory challenger for Witter's title.

"Nobody wants to fight Junior," said promoter Mick Hennessy.

"This is the kind of problem you are always going to have with a talent like him.

"Not even a world-class operator like Branco wants to fight him, despite the fact there is a genuine title at stake."

Hennessy is now aiming to set up another opponent for the contest.

Witter won the European title in June, and made his third successful defence against Poland's Krzysztof Bienias at Wembley last month.

Super-middleweight Carl Froch is also aiming to be placed on the Hopkins bill but has not yet received confirmation.
