Witter won the European crown in June |
British, Commonwealth and European light welterweight champion Junior Witter has challenged former lightweight king Floyd Mayweather. "You have a date in January but no opponent yet, so here I am," said the WBC number three. "Come get me.
"Don't confuse me with Ricky Hatton. He has avoided me for two years because he knows I would knock him out.
"I'm a genuine contender, prepared to fight anybody. If you want to play with the big boys, let's go."
Mayweather is among the world's best pound-for-pound talents and ranked number one by the WBC.
However, the WBC's champion Arturo Gatti is set to defend against James Leija in January.
When Witter last fought at the top level he was soundly beaten by Zab Judah in an IBF title tilt in 2000.
Witter defends his European title against Poland's Krzysztof Bienias at Wembley on 12 November.
